Sustainable Shipping Conference 2010: From the Cradle to the Grave takes the issue of sustainability beyond just environmental issues to encompass the wider implications of shipping's life cycle performance. As shipping increasingly moves to improve its operational environmental footprint and impact, the spotlight is now growing to focus on the whole lifespan.
From manufacture to operational performance through to the safe disposal of a ship, owners will be accountable for ensuring safe, high performance business practice throughout. Session Two: The Here and Now
How can the current world fleet comply with upcoming legislation? How will the expanding ECA's affect operations? How does shipping fit in with a sustainable supply chain? What is best sustainable port practice? Where will the funding for change come from/
Session Three: Open debate- What Next?
The ECA is being introduced, the EEDI is underway, but what will the next wave of legislation concentrate on? What should it regulate? Or has shipping been regulated enough? Are there other instruments to encourage an environmentally responsible industry?
